Another photo of the Monument.

This photo was taken 3 weeks into the project.
Lytton street school. Today I am going to inform you about this excellent monument that is being built at our School. The Monument is in memory of Keith Elliot who received the Victoria Cross for bravery during the war. The idea was put forwards by the pupils who are school councillors here at Lytton Street. The people who designed it this Monument are from Opus (which is French for WORK). The builders are from Noel Lines and they have done a excellent job.

How does your story start?
Using the pictures from Roxy retell the story in your own words.
Sally goes to the supermarket to buy some food products. Sally gets some eggs milk and apples then she gives the person the money and goes home. Once she gets home she unpacked the food. She puts the eggs on the bench milk in the fridge apples in the fruit bowl. Sally goes over to the bench and opens up the eggs and one of the eggs cracked open.

Speeches

For speeches we had to write a speech about a magical moment,either in history or your own life.
Some people had to re-do their speech in front of the class,including me.We did this so we could find  out who would go to the finals.It was very close scoring so we had to depend on time to find out who were in the finals.In the end both Caleb and me were in the finals,and I was surprised that I got in the finals,which I never intended to do.

What we have learnt this term.{ 3}

We are going to tell you about why we had to clean Room 14's store. One very important fact is that the room was a mess. We got the job of cleaning up the messy walk in store room because Mr Roberts knew that we would do a fabulous job. When we started to clean up we have lots of fun, for instance we could put on the baby bibs from the dress up box. We could throw coat hangers and try to get them on the shelf. Thank you for letting us share that information with you.

Manawatu Mathex 2009

On the 14th of August 2009. 10 children from Lytton street school participated in this very interesting event. They were there to do maths. In Mathex there are 48 schools and each school team has 4 children. For Lytton street the Year Five and Six teams both came 8th. This is a big jump from last year, both teams finished outside the top 15. In this event you start off with 15 min to do some practical maths and then another 15 minutes to do some quickfire questions.This is also a difficult event to parcitapate in and you have to be good at maths. I love being part of the team and enjoy working with all the other children from different classes.

We took a seat and I was sitting next to Kahlei . Mrs Kao gave us the rules. The Lady said a prayer and we got into our classrooms groups. Te Manawa Trip

Te Manawa Trip

On the 21st of May we went to Te Manawa in Palmerston North. The first thing we did was go into Te Manawa and put our bags away,and get a snack for morning tea. When we had finished the delicious snack we got into our groups and ventured of into the square. Everyone had to wear yellow vests.We just had to go to the square which wasn't a long walk. In a few minutes we were there and then we started the scavenger hunt. As part of the scavenger hunt we had to take pictures and write down the answers to the 20 questions. It was a tough task. After we had finished all the questions we were allowed to do the treasure hunt in the library. That was so terrific but we had to be back before 12 o'clock to have lunch and time was running out so we didn't get all the questions answered.
Luckily everybody got back in time to have lunch. Finally everybody was sitting and eating their food while chatting to each other. In no time at all we were in the MAGIC MIRROR room and it was amazing. Ocean was near one of the mirrors and she kept on moving it around with the handle to make us look really small.We wanted to stay in there for longer but we were going to the next room.We then met Warren and we were allowed to call him Pa. He then explained that we were going to make flax fish. Even though it was fun it was really difficult.
    By 2 o'clock we had finished our fish and gotten ready to get on the bus to go back to school before the day ended.           By Maia
